Impact on Customers Supply Chain
All cargo that was earlier planned for processing at the BM Depot is being diverted to other depots at Chittagong prior to its onward journey. Consequently, the logistics ecosystem at Chittagong is anticipating temporary operational challenges due to transit capacity constraints at various depots and expect increased truck waiting times.
Due to the sudden change in cargo re-routings, the depots are experiencing an array of challenges on ground, leading to delays in container placement, laden movement to port etc. Furthermore, heavy rainfall in Chattogram has been disrupting continuity in operations and labour attendance.
Delays in cargo offloading at depots is impacting the onward transport planning for the shipments on planned vessels out of Chittagong. Our teams are committed to finding suitable alternatives to minimize any impact on your supply chain.
What is Maersk Doing?
We are working on a contingency plan to add capacity and consequently re-map the cargo movement in and out of Bangladesh as efficiently as possible. Throughout this process, we continue to assess and optimize the best options for our customers in order to ensure the safe delivery of their cargo.
Your supply chain is of the utmost importance to us, and we are committed to helping you navigate these disruptions for the safe delivery of your cargo. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
