Update on capacity constraints affecting inland in Buenaventura Colombia
Maersk has remained vigilant about the trucking capacity situation in the Buenaventura area following the closures on July 31st due to protests by indigenous communities in the Lobo Guerrero community. These closures prevented movement to and from the port terminal, aggravating the situation due to the recent surge in bulk imports.
As a consequence of this condition and as to provide an update on our announcement made on Thursday August 8th, trucking capacity remains limited this week also.
Maersk continues to provide an alternative to ease supply chain disruptions to any of our customers who need to coordinate their shipments within August 8th to August 16th with a temporary surcharge of 600.000 COP per container as to ensure the availability of trucks from other locations of the country to address the urgency caused by the backlog. Should you require to activate this plan, please contact your commercial advisor or customer service representative.
Our teams continue to work tirelessly to find solutions to keep your cargo moving. We are closely monitoring the situation on ground and will continue to share the latest updates as soon as more information is available. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this challenging time
