Your partnership remains of the utmost importance to us, and as your integrated logistics partner, our aim is to ensure that your supply chain moves with agility, connectivity and ease. As part of A.P. Moller – Maersk’s goal to ensure the efficiency of your supply chain, we are continually keeping an eye on developing situations.
Due to the persistent difficulties with accessing the Port of La Spezia, trucking companies are implementing a Congestion Surcharge that will be applied to any truck moves in and out of the La Spezia Gateways in order to guarantee the economic sustainability of transport and therefore the road safety of drivers and vehicles.
To maintain our high standard, secure capacity in the market, and ultimately ensure a continued and reliable inland transportation service for our customers, A.P. Moller – Maersk and, therefore, all its subsidiaries and controlled companies, will be introducing an Inland Peak Season Surcharge for all export and import truck moves to and from the Port of La Spezia.

*PCD = Price Calculation Date. For non-FMC, PCD refers to the scheduled departure date of the first water leg at the time of booking confirmation for non-Spot bookings. For FMC, PCD is last container gate-in date for nonSpot bookings.
The Surcharge implemented will go into effect on 13 February 2025 for FMC and on 06 February for No FMC and remain active until further communication. We will, of course, continue to monitor the situation and remove the Inland Peak Season Surcharge as soon as it becomes operationally feasible to do so.
We appreciate your trust and loyalty in these challenging circumstances and look forward to continuing to assist you on all matters pertaining to your logistics needs. Should you have any further questions, please contact your local Maersk professional. Our customer service and commercial teams are always available to support should you need assistance.
