In recent months, we have observed a growing number of containers discharged in Rijeka bound for Serbia where mandatory documentation was submitted late, incomplete or incorrect. These inaccuracies create delays at borders, hinder planning of Carrier Haulage and train delivery flows, increase coordination requirements with authorities, and generate unplanned operational costs. This affects not only individual shipments but also the consistency of our inland network.
To safeguard operational stability and ensure timely inland delivery planning, as of 16 April 2026, Maersk will introduce an additional cost associated with extra handling and coordination triggered by non‑compliant documentation.
The new Destination Coordination Fee of EUR 65 per container will apply to all containers discharged in Rijeka to be delivered Serbia, if the required documentation is not provided correctly and within the defined timeline. This fee reflects the additional administrative, compliance, and logistical coordination required to manage late or incorrect documentation.
The fee applies to:
- All Carrier Haulage deliveries from Rijeka to Serbia
- All train deliveries from Rijeka to Serbia
- All container types
Fee amount
- EUR 65 per container
Criteria for fee application
- Documentation must be submitted no later than 10 days prior to vessel arrival in Rijeka
- Documentation must be complete and correct. Any incomplete, inaccurate, missing or revised documents will be considered non compliant.
If either of the above criteria is not met, the Destination Coordination Fee will apply.
