A.P. Moller – Maersk would like to provide an update on the temporary adjustment to rail operations at APM Terminals in the Port of Rotterdam.
As part of the ongoing APM Terminals expansion, rail capacity is significantly reduced for an estimated period of approximately six months from 1 July 2026. Both carrier haulage and merchant haulage rail services are affected by these constraints. Available rail capacity is being managed to ensure the impact is shared as equitably as possible across all service types.
Customers may experience reduced availability and flexibility in rail solutions during this period, and we are working with impacted customers individually to identify the most suitable arrangements for their flows.
The current estimate is that full operational capacity will be restored by January 2027. We will continue to provide updates as timelines are confirmed.
Alternative and interim options
For shipments arriving at APM Terminals in Rotterdam, the following options are available during the affected period:
- Barge on-carriage to inland terminals
- Truck transport
- Carrier haulage rail solutions — our teams can discuss conversion options on a case-by-case basis
Our teams remain available to support discussions on the most feasible transport arrangements for your specific requirements.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will inform you of any material changes.
Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership.
