A.P. Moller – Maersk would like to inform you that the German rail network is experiencing several operational disruptions across key corridors. These challenges are resulting in train delays, longer transit times, and also train cancellations.

The operational disruptions are primarily driven by a combination of factors, including operational train control measures implemented by port authorities in the ports of Hamburg and Bremerhaven, as well as ongoing infrastructure works across the rail network. In addition, several construction projects have been announced at short notice, limiting further the ability of rail operators and terminals to proactively adjust network capacity and operational plans. These circumstances are causing bottlenecks across the whole German and Austrian rail network and reducing overall reliability and flexibility.

Our teams are closely monitoring the situation and working closely with rail operators, terminal partners, and infrastructure stakeholders to minimize the impact on your cargo. Given the scale of the ongoing infrastructure works and operational constraints across the network, a significant improvement of the situation is not expected in the short term. We will continue to provide updates as developments occur and alternative solutions become available.

At Maersk, we remain committed to maintaining supply chain continuity and are actively evaluating and implementing sustainable alternative solutions wherever possible. This includes reviewing available network options, optimizing equipment flows, and identifying suitable contingency measures to support our customers' transportation needs.

We understand the importance of reliable service and recognize the inconvenience these disruptions may cause. Please be assured that our operational teams are working diligently to mitigate delays and provide timely updates as the situation evolves.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate this temporary disruption. Our teams remain committed to ensuring the continuity of your supply chain with minimal impact. We will reach out to customers with further details as soon as possible, so you have adequate time to prepare.

Our teams are here to serve you, so please don’t hesitate to contact to your local Maersk representative should you have any questions.
