Following the earthquake that impacted several areas of Colombia on August 10, recovery efforts across the country’s logistics network continue to progress, supporting a gradual return to normal operating conditions.

Ports, terminals, customs authorities, inland depots, transportation providers, and other key stakeholders remain operational and continue working collaboratively to support cargo movements and service continuity. While some challenges persist as the industry works through the backlog generated by the event, activities are stabilizing across key logistics touchpoints.

Landside Operations

Inland transportation services remain available; however, the market continues to face trucking capacity constraints due to the cargo backlog generated by the August 10 earthquake.

This has increased demand for transportation services and may affect equipment availability for the pickup and evacuation of containers from port terminals, particularly along key logistics corridors.

Customers are encouraged to coordinate transportation requirements in advance and arrange prompt pickup of import cargo once released.

Terminal Operations

Terminal operations continue to stabilize, with facilities progressively increasing capacity and service availability.

Import container delivery, export receiving, inspections, warehouse operations, and vessel activities remain available. Local authorities, port operators, logistics providers, and terminals continue coordinating to facilitate cargo flows and support recovery efforts.

To maintain operational fluidity and optimize capacity utilization, customers are encouraged to remove import containers from terminals as soon as possible after release.

Ocean Operations

Vessel operations continue across Colombian ports, and Maersk services remain available.

Maersk remains in close coordination with terminal operators and local stakeholders to support cargo movements as recovery efforts progress.

We will continue monitoring the situation in coordination with customers, authorities, terminals, and logistics partners, and will provide further updates should significant changes occur.

Following our previous communication regarding the earthquake affecting the Buenaventura area, we would like to provide an update on the recovery efforts and operational status.

Our priority continues to be the safety and well-being of our employees, customers, partners, and the local communities impacted by this event. We remain in close coordination with authorities, terminal operators, and logistics partners to support the safe and gradual restoration of services.

Terminal and Landside Operations

Recovery activities at Buenaventura continue to make steady progress.

• Import container gate operations have resumed on a limited basis, with operational capacity increasing progressively each day.
• Appointments for gate-in of export cargo are now available.
• TCBUEN´s warehouse for coffee, sugar and consolidated cargo is open.
• Container depots in Buenaventura and Cali have resumed operations.
• Customer service activities in Buenaventura remain available through contingency arrangements.
• Customs authorities remain operational under temporary contingency measures; however, inspections, cargo verifications, and physical customs processes are currently suspended.
• Landside transportation remains impacted in several key corridors:
• Partial road closures with controlled traffic flows and some restrictions on cargo movement:
• Buenaventura – Bogotá
• Buenaventura – Palmira
• Buenaventura – Medellín
• Affected corridors experiencing some delays:
• Bogotá – Cartagena
• Cartagena - Medellín

Ocean Operations

The port recovery plan continues to advance, allowing for the gradual reintroduction of vessel activity.

• The first vessel call following the earthquake is expected on 14 August, with additional Maersk vessel calls planned thereafter.

• Dyros (AC1): ETA Aug 15th
• Leda Maersk (Ecumed): ETA Aug 16th
• Our operations teams remain closely coordinated with terminal operators and relevant authorities to support a safe and efficient return to regular service levels.

Air Operations

• No significant disruptions are anticipated to the international air freight network.
• Operations through Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali airports continue to run as normal.
• Shipments originating from or destined for Pereira may face restrictions or require alternative transportation plans until the airport resumes regular commercial operations.

Outlook

The overall recovery trajectory remains positive, with daily progress being made across terminal, landside, and ocean operations. While some transportation constraints and operational disruptions remain, recovery efforts continue to advance across the supply chain.

Colombia Earthquake: Operational Update #1

We would like to inform you that logistics operations in parts of Colombia are currently facing disruptions following the earthquake that impacted several regions of the country earlier today.

The safety and wellbeing of our colleagues, their families, and the affected communities remain our highest priority. We are in close contact with local teams and continue working with terminal operators, authorities, and logistics partners to assess the impact across ocean and inland operations.

• Terminal operations in Buenaventura have been temporarily suspended while facility and infrastructure assessments are underway.
• Vessel operations, cargo handling activities, and service schedules in Buenaventura are being affected.
• Road closures and traffic restrictions on key inland corridors between Buenaventura and the interior of Colombia may affect import and export cargo movements.
• Depot and customer service counter operations in Buenaventura and Cali are also experiencing disruptions.

Ocean Update

• Luna Maersk 628W: The vessel was operating in Buenaventura but was unable to complete cargo operations. Units not discharged or loaded will be rescheduled on the next available vessel.
• Gudrun Maersk 628E/633W: The vessel will omit its Buenaventura call. Cargo planned for this vessel will be rescheduled on the next available vessel.

Sites and Warehouses Update

At this time, all our facilities: Cartagena and Bogota warehouses, Tocancipá Logistics Center, and Cartagena depot have not reported any operational impacts and remain available.

We are evaluating contingency measures to help minimize disruptions and support business continuity for our customers.
Our teams are working closely with relevant stakeholders to identify alternative solutions where possible and support cargo flow across the network.
