Trial Shortened Notice Period Customs Inspection and Change in Communication in Port of Rotterdam
A.P. Moller – Maersk would like to inform you that as part of the Resilient Port Terminals (WHT) project, the Dutch customs will start a pilot to shorten the notice period for customs inspections in Rotterdam. By shortening the notice period, the customs office aims to support prevention of illegal and criminal activities at the Port.
As of 22nd April 2024, the notice period for customs inspections will be shortened from 72 to 48 hours, for a period of 2 weeks. After two weeks, the notice period will be further shortened to 24 hours before arrival of vessel (ETA). The pilot will end on Friday, 17th of May, at 07:00am, at which point the notice period will be reset to 72 hours.
Due to short notice, we may not always be able to communicate when cargo has been selected for inspection, therefore customers are asked to access customs notifications in Portbase, where the latest status information is available. We kindly ask customers to check Portbase for customs notifications before picking up the container at the Port. Maersk cannot be held responsible for any costs arising from late customs notifications.
