We are writing to inform you about the current situation of land transportation, affected by the imbalance in cargo flow (from vs. to port) previously announced, which continues significantly.
We have exhausted and will continue to maximize our efforts to contain additional costs. However, given the current situation, to reposition the fleet from the interior and mitigate the previous effects, a surcharge of up to COP 600,000 per movement will be applied. This surcharge is optional and will be passed through without margin. The alternative to this solution is to wait for vehicle procurement, which could extend more than a week and generate additional costs in the supply chain beyond Maersk's control.
Monitoring the Transportation Situation
Last week, a public meeting was held convened by Fedetranscarga, with the participation of the Ministry of Transportation, the Superintendency of Transportation, the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce, the Superintendency of Infrastructure, DIAN, various land transportation companies, and cargo generators. During this meeting, the suspension of terms for OTM and DTA was requested, among other requests from the transportation sector. To date, there is no confirmation of the final provisions of the authorities, to which we are subject. The transportation sector has expressed its concern about the situation in Buenaventura, which has persisted since August, with pronounced periods like the present.
In preparation for the year-end holidays, we recommend making your arrangements well in advance, as during this season there is a consistent reduction in the availability of land transportation.
We appreciate your understanding, patience, and trust.
