Effective October 1, 2026, Maersk will implement a new surcharge to recover terminal-related security costs associated with export cargo originating from the United States and Canada.
Please see the applicable charge details below:
| Charge Name | Applicable Origin Country (Port of Loading) | Tariff Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Port Security Service Export | Canada | USD 12 per container |
| Port Security Service Export | USA | USD 15 per container |
For FMC-regulated cargo, including exempt cargo loaded at U.S. ports, the effective date will be determined by the date Maersk takes possession of the final container covered under the bill of lading.
For cargo loaded in Canada, the effective date will be based on the vessel's scheduled sailing date.
Unless otherwise specified in your shipping instructions, these charges will be assessed on a prepaid basis.
We appreciate your continued business and thank you for choosing Maersk.
