We regret to inform you that the vessel “Rio Madeira” suffered an electrical power outage causing loss of propulsion, while sailing to Sydney, Australia, from Singapore.
The issue was reported on 20th October 2022, and the vessel was drifting in safe waters off Sydney pilot station. The vessel had power supply from the emergency generator; however, it was not sufficient to perform all functions which were required to sail the vessel. We also arranged tugboats to be alongside for safety and stability of the vessel while crew members were trouble shooting the issue.
The technicians have now rectified the issue and electricity onboard the vessel has been restored.
The vessel berthed at Sydney Hutchison terminal for repairs only on the 23rd October 2022. Cargo operations (load or discharge) will be planned only at Sydney DPW terminal ETA 27/10.
We will keep you updated on the status of repairs and cargo operation plan once details are finalized.
