Port Elizabeth, South Africa - Release counter closure

We would like to inform you of the permanent closure of our physical Release Counter facility in Port Elizabeth, situated at Safren House, Oakworth Drive, Humerail as from 1 April 2023.

Due to the implementation of our Self-Service Delivery Order (SSDO) platform on our website and alongside the functionality to print Original Bill of Ladings at customer’s own premises, we have reviewed the need for the physical counter and have taken the decision to close this facility.

To date, the Release Counter has been available to our customers by offering the following services:

• printing of Original Bill of Lading;
• acceptance of Original Bill of Ladings being surrendered

We encourage customers to utilise our Electronic Release offerings for shipments, where Original Bills are held in Port Elizabeth.

For all your Release requests, we encourage you to use our Self-Service Delivery Order (SSDO) platform via Maersk.com. Maersk will continue to offer the associated services by our Customer Experience teams related to all shipments and the additional Release Counters in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town will remain operational.
