As your integrated logistics partner, our aim at A.P. Moller - Maersk is to ensure that your supply chain moves with agility, connectivity, and ease. With this in mind, we are continually keeping an eye on developing situations and reacting with the overall goal of ensuring the highest efficiency in your logistics operations.
In an effort to accelerate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and reach climate reduction goals, the German Federal Government is adding a new a road toll component that will be linked to the amount of CO2 produced by commercial vehicles. The toll will be updated with the new component as of 1 December 2023, and will affect commercial freight traffic vehicles of 3.5 tonnes and up. Emission-free vehicles will be exempt from this charge until 31 December 2025.
The rise in toll fees will increase cargo transport costs and as such, bring a need for Maersk to increase rates for truck transport in Germany. Taking into account the increased toll, we will revise the tariff for Q4 of this year to avoid disruption to our customers’ supply chain and ensure transparency and predictability of cost. The new price calculation is available on Maersk.com.
The increased rate will be used to accommodate additional costs presented by our vendors, secure capacity in the market and ultimately ensure a continued and sustainable inland transportation service for our customers.
We will continue to monitor the situation and any new regulations and directives that may arise in the future and keep our customers informed of any new developments.
Should you have any questions, or require further assistance, please contact your local Maersk representative. Our customer service and commercial teams are always available to support.
