On 28 March 2025, Myanmar was unfortunately struck with an earthquake of magnitude 7.7 on the Richter scale, with tremors also registered in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. We are now writing to you to give you an update on our operations and services in these countries.
The safety and wellbeing of our staff remains our top priority. We are committed to providing support to Maersk employees impacted by the event and will work closely with affected individuals to ensure they receive the necessary assistance.
We are relieved to confirm that all onsite Maersk employees in Myanmar are safe. No significant damage have been reported to our facilities or assets in the country.
Our offices in Cambodia and Vietnam have been evacuated with staff asked to return to their homes as a precautionary measure. On-site colleagues are safe and there have not been any reports of injuries.
We are still in the process of assessing the impact to our operations and services in Thailand. Currently, we have only received reports of limited damage to a customer facility operated by Maersk Contract Logistics in Thailand. We are working with the affected customer to minimise disruption and restore full operations within a mutually agreed time frame.
While we can confirm the safety of all employees who were onsite at our offices and facilities, we are still in the process of confirming the status of those who may have been outside our direct care and potentially affected by the earthquake.
We thank you for your patience and understanding. Rest assured we will do everything we can to minimise the impact on our customers and their supply chains.
Maersk would also like to extend its deepest sympathies to those affected by the disaster. Our thoughts are with you during this very difficult time.
