What impact has the earthquake had on Maersk operations in Turkey/Syria?
The earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on Monday 6 February 2023 caused significant damage to logistics and transport infrastructure in the area. The Port of Iskenderun was the subject of substantial damage as a result of the disaster and subsequent fire, leading to a complete stop of all operations until further notice.
Roads have also been heavily affected, and vendors were unable to move any trucks in and around the area in the earthquake’s immediate aftermath. However, at this time, the inland network of trucking and rail is back to being fully operational across the region. The situation is changing frequently, so we will keep customers informed of any new developments as soon as possible.
