Culture and Inclusion at A.P. Moller - Maersk

At Maersk, we want to build an organization that reflects the labour market and communities that we serve. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace culture where everyone is empowered to thrive.

Beyond a job but a place where you can belong, grow, and shape your future

Belonging is the outcome of a truly inclusive and fair culture. It’s when employees feel safe, seen, and supported - not because of who they are, but because of how they’re treated.

Employees working in ship

At Maersk, we build belonging through:

Our Employee Resource Networks (ERNs)

Our Employee Resource Networks are voluntary and colleague led. They are open to all employees and their aim is to connect and empower colleagues, giving them support and sense of belonging. Our ERNs hold numerous events and initiatives throughout the year aligned with their mission and area.

Creating career pathways for local communities

We are constantly looking for ways to help local communities build a career in logistics. Sometimes these can be on a smaller scale such as providing development training, but sometimes it can be much bigger, literally bigger.

In 2022, we launched our first female only warehouse in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh In India. We hired, trained and created jobs for women from the local area. The 100,000 square foot warehouse was the first of its kind.

Supporting Parents at Work

A belief that life outside work is just as important as life at work, this is why we make great efforts and have policies in place to support colleague's personal commitments. This includes colleagues who are parents or have other caring responsibilities.

Paul Vidler, Talent Attraction Manager for Europe, shares his views:

"Since my wife’s return to work after maternity leave a couple months ago, I have been working condensed hours, which means I have every other Monday off to spend precious time with my daughter while still excelling in my role. This is one of the things that make me feel that Maersk really lives their core values; the organization really does have a commitment to their employees".

Paul Vidler
We believe it’s an absolute priority that our colleagues feel safe being themselves, free from prejudice and judgement on their choices in their way of life. We want everyone to feel that their identity is understood and recognised for their uniqueness and authenticity.
