Maersk ECO Delivery Ocean
Maersk ECO Delivery Ocean is a decarbonisation product which aims to reduce the impact of global trade on our climate. The pioneering service utilises lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions fuels* to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 84% on a well to wake basis compared to fossil reference fuels.
By integrating Maersk ECO Delivery Ocean into your supply chain, GHG emissions reductions are allocated through use of lower GHG emissions fuels on a Maersk owned or long-term leased asset. This service supports the growing demand for decarbonising logistics while ensuring your cargo is transported conveniently across the world's oceans.
*Maersk defines reduced / lower GHG emissions fuels as fuels with at least 65% reductions in GHG emissions on a lifecycle basis compared to fossil of 94 g CO2e/MJ

In the space of just a few years, there has been a steep change in the commitment across society to reduce GHG emissions. Reduced GHG emissions fuels – powering decarbonisation initiatives
Maersk uses fuel blends with low to very low GHG emissions over their life cycle as compared to fossil fuels. Different fuel blends achieve different life cycle GHG reductions depending on their production pathway as shown below.
Sharing one network and one planet - how it works
Maersk ECO Delivery Ocean is based on a value chain allocation model, that uses reduced GHG emissions fuels, such as biodiesel or methanol on Maersk owned or long term leased vessels. The GHG emissions reductions can be gained on any trade lane within Maersk’s overall network, covering the agreed distance for your booking.
In September 2023, Maersk was proud to set the world’s first methanol-enabled and powered container vessel on its maiden voyage. With 25 methanol-enabled vessels, Maersk is adding even more reduced GHG emissions fuel to the network for Maersk ECO Delivery customers to access, while building on our multi-fuel strategy for reduced GHG emissions fuel supply through diversification, and strengthening our customers’ capabilities in their decarbonisation ambitions.

Get a Maersk ECO Delivery Ocean CO2e saving certificate
You can evidence your decarbonisation efforts with the ECO Delivery Ocean certificate. Once your service is completed, you receive a Maersk ECO Delivery Ocean certificate for the CO2e emissions saved using reduced GHG emissions fuel through a value chain decarbonisation allocation model.
