Due to the new regulation in China, this vessel is not allowed to berth without sanitization and no crew will be allowed to disembark. Hence, we are in discussion with the TPP authorities to bring vessel back to TPP for the disembarkation of the 3rd party service engineer and sanitization of the vessel.

We will keep you informed on the outcome of this discussion. We apologize for the inconvenience this incident may cause to your business. In case of any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your local Maersk representative.

We would like to update you on the following information.

We regret to inform about two COVID19 positive cases found on board Gerda Maersk, while she was enroute from Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia, to Yantian, China.

As a part of regular maintenance programme two 3rd party service engineers boarded the vessel from Suez Canal, Egypt, and were planned to disembark at Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia, after going through the COVID19 test. However, due to local restrictions, the disembarkation was denied even before the results became available, and hence, vessel sailed towards the next planned port Yantian, China.

While enroute to Yantian, China, the test results were received indicating the two engineers are COVID19 positive.

The safety and health of people remains top priority and we are doing our utmost to provide the best possible care for the affected. As per established protocols, the affected engineers are currently isolated onboard while the vessel is currently in Malaysian waters awaiting further instructions.

This situation will unfortunately cause delay in delivery of your cargo, however, we will update you the further course of action once instructions from authorities are received.

We apologize for the inconvenience this incident may cause to your business. In case of any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your local Maersk representative.
