We wish to update you of the developing situation in New Zealand ports due to Cyclone Gabrielle.
The following summary comprises the latest information available:
- Tauranga - Resumed operations 0600 Tuesday 14th February.
- Auckland - Resumed operations 0700 Wednesday 15th February.
- Napier - Port closure extended until the 1200 midday Thursday 16th February.
- Timaru - Port Closed 1500 Monday 13th February - Terminal are expecting this to last for the next 48-72 hours.

February 13th, 2023 - Update 01
As part of our continued efforts towards improving service delivery, we wish to inform you of the developing situation in New Zealand ports due to Cyclone Gabrielle.
Maersk teams are working closely with affected terminals, depots, and transport service providers to assess the ongoing impact of the situation on a service-by-service basis. Our goal remains to provide you with service predictability and to provide alternative supply chain routings, where available, to minimise disruption to your logistics networks.
The following summary comprises the latest information available:
- Tauranga - Vessels to depart from the Tauranga anchorage to sea, where they may remain till it is deemed safe for them to return. Shipping movements remain suspended due to high swells. Southern Star service vessel Rio De Janeiro is alongside and awaiting further information.
- Auckland - Due to uncertainty concerning the direction of Cyclone Gabrielle, terminal will vacate all vessels alongside the berths and not berth any other vessels in the next 36-48 hours minimum until it is deemed safe to do so.
- Napier - Port Closed from 13th February 15:00 hours until 15th February 23:59 hours.
