Container Protect is available in two variants: Container Protect Essential and Container Protect Unlimited.

Container Protect Essential

It provides limited coverage for container damages and cleaning costs, across all commodities. If repairs exceed the coverage limit, only the additional amount is billed.

Container Protect Unlimited

It provides unlimited coverage for container damage and cleaning costs, across all commodities.

What are the inclusions and exclusions of Container Protect?

Container Protect covers:

Any damage and container cleaning requirements arising due to loading/unloading of goods or poor packaging.
Container Protect is only applicable on Maersk-owned containers and Maersk Ocean shipments.
Applicable on all container sizes and types.
Applies only to container damages.

Note: Without Container Protect, these costs will be charged separately a few days/weeks after the container is returned to the designated depot.

Container Protect does not cover

Major incidents like containers falling overboard, fire, truck / road accidents, etc. In such cases, the usual recovery process will follow.
Theft or disappearance is not included, either for the whole container or the spare parts.

We recommend that you buy Container Protect Unlimited during your Ocean booking submission. If you are unable to, then the latest you can add it is up to 2 days before the estimated arrival of your cargo.

If you buy Container Protect Essential and the total cleaning and repair cost exceeds the protected limit, we will raise an additional invoice for the excess amount. At every stage, we maintain complete cost transparency.
