In modern times of environmental consciousness, all aspects of society are being put under the microscope looking for sustainability-focused improvements – and global logistics is no different.
As such, companies in Europe are identifying more environmentally friendly logistics as a way to achieve their ambitious sustainability targets. In fact, in our recent survey of 1,200 companies across the continent, a significant 2 in 5 said they are fully committed to sustainable logistics and use it to drive their green agenda.
That much is just as well, because 1 in 2 businesses also said they feel pressure to decarbonise their logistics from their customer base and – moving into 2024 – new regulations mean sustainability is no longer a choice, but an absolute necessity.
Sustainable development goals through logistics
Juan Cajiao (Maersk Global Head of Market Activation) got together with Rob Zuidwijk (Rotterdam School of Management Professor of Global Supply Chains and Ports) to talk about logistics strategy in 2024 and how businesses can achieve success with the right set-up.
In the final episode of our three-part video series, Juan and Rob discuss the importance of sustainability for businesses heading into the new year and address where logistics can play a key part in reaching their goals.
Catch up on the rest of the series, with episode one - major risks and important questions - and episode two – addressing the supply-demand imbalance. Find more 2024-focused content on Logistics Insights.
