Soaring over the obstacles
Port congestions, container shortages and heavier demands on supply chains have wrought varying degrees of conflict, underlining the need for expanded capacity as well as multiple flows to market. We know from customer feedback that building resilience and agility matters more than lean operations and understand the desire for different and innovative ways of ensuring routes and delivery. To Maersk, building resilience is not only about preventing future challenges but also ensuring that when similar challenges do occur in the future, they do not lead to the same outcomes as today.
That is why we at Maersk continue to expand our logistical capabilities, this time by intending to acquire Senator International, a recognised global freight forwarder.* A noted industry partner, Senator brings with it a strong network of own-controlled flights, intercontinental rail, warehousing, distribution and packaging across the Americas, Asia, Europe and South Africa.
To further accelerate our air freight abilities, Maersk is also purchasing two new B777F and leasing three B767-300 cargo planes. With disruptions to supply chains becoming more prevalent, we believe that offering integrated logistics including air solutions are key to ensuring that you can flexibly manage interruptions to your supply chain. As such, through this expansion, we will be able to offer more agility and resilience in global supply chains.

This, in turn, offers you, our customers, more versatility when shaping your supply chain, allowing you to build robustness through unique and streamlined solutions, as well as allowing you to be even more adaptive when facing fluctuating market trends and lack of predictability. As a result of the Suez blockage, many customers reached out for alternative cargo transportation for time sensitive shipments. We received similar requests in the matter of the port delays to Los Angeles port. We take immense pride in meeting our customers’ needs and finding viable solutions to your supply chain challenges.
